How precious is your child’s smile? We know it’s priceless! Our team loves to see children smile, so we take great pleasure in providing easy-to-understand instruction and hands-on guidance to teach children how to properly care for their teeth. We’ll help you, too, so that you can work with your children at home and promote a healthy homecare routine of daily flossing and twice-daily brushing.
Dr. Iacovino is excellent with children. His goal is to ensure a great start to a lifetime of positive dental experiences.
Child's 1st Visit
Bring your child to your scheduled hygiene visit before the age of three, and let him or her enjoy a “ride” in the dental chair, an office tour, and an introduction to our friendly team members. This “happy visit” will prepare your child for future checkups and cleanings, promoting a non-intimidating, welcomed experience.
Before your child’s first visit, discuss what will happen. Never use words like pain, fear, or drill. Instead, talk about healthy teeth, beautiful smiles, and how your friends at Dr. Iacovino’s Oakville dental office are always fun and helpful.
Children over the age of three will need checkups every six months and cleanings as advised. Dr. Iacovino may recommend dental sealants or fluoride supplements to ward off tooth decay on hard-to-brush back teeth. He’ll also look for developmental concerns and refer you to a specialist (such as an orthodontist) if necessary. Should you find that your child – at any age – has an oral problem, please schedule a visit with Dr. Iacovino.
Parents
At our clinic, we save all live intraoral images and take magnified before-and-after images at EVERY VISIT. We invite you to examine the treatments we have performed. Dr. Iacovino and our clinicians are happy to share the images of your child with you prior to and at the end of every appointment. We will also keep them on file in case you would like to see them again at a later time.
Teens
As children grow into teenagers, they continue to have special needs. Our team’s family-friendly attitude and extensive experience with patients of all ages allow us to provide the one-on-one, age-appropriate dental care our patients need throughout life.
